An elevator can be made to go straight to any floor regardless of how many other floors are waiting for the elevator to arrive along the way.

The idea is, should firemen or police need to arrive at a floor very quickly without stopping at every floor with someone else waiting for the elevator, they can just perform the trick and ignore other floors.

One doesn't need to be a fireman to accomplish the trick though, and it's easy to do, but may earn the user notoriety.

You simply hold down both the floor you wish to visit, and the close door button for a few seconds until the elevator starts moving, then release, and you'll be taken straight to the floor.
